The 2020 Public Services Trust has published a series of articles in recent weeks which play into the Fontis agenda. Following a poll report from Ipsos Mori on 'What do people really want, need and expect from Public Services?', the commission, closely associated with the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) has published two reports. The first is 'Delivering a Localist Future', the second 'Citizen Engagement; testing policy ideas for public service reform' is a return to the poll format with commentary.
All three are useful documents dispelling many myths about engagement, and especially that it is neither wanted or feeasible.

Our letter to the Health Services Journal (HSJ) was published last week (11th March, hard-copy version), albeit in mangled form. It made the argument we have blogged about on here, that the report fails almost entirely to deal with an essential issue at the heart of what happened at Mid-Staffordshire, the breakdown in trust in local services. Instead it focusses on increasing bureacratic, professioanal and regulatory measures which simply fall within the existing mindset.
